📖 The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy

Topic: Self-Improvement  |  Rating: 5/5

Love this book and it is my first 5/5 book for the year. Engaging and easy to read.

My three key takeaways/quotes

1. Every action has a compound effect 📈

We tend to be short-sighted with our choices, but this book exemplified the impact of every action. The opportunity cost of an extra dollar spent is really 5x if you invested it. For me, I acknowledge with some decisions, poorer choices tend to follow. But this is also true for smart choices. E.g. getting enough sleep means I have enough energy to exercise, and then more likely to eat healthy and so on and so forth.

“The Compound Effect is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices made consistently over time.”

2. Work on the skills needed to reaching your goals 🤹

The only thing stopping you from achieving what you want is experience not capability. So, identify the skills you need and work on them every day.

“If you want to have more, you have to become more.”

3. Be conscious of your circle of influence 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

In taking 100% responsibility for your life you need to identity who is influencing you and the information you’re exposed to. As social creatures we adopt the habits of those around us. So, if necessary, change your associations and don’t be afraid to be that person of positive influence.

“The people with whom we spend our time determine what conversations dominate our attention, along with the attitudes and opinions we are regularly exposed to.”
